Abstract

Effective communication is one of the most important parts of patient safety. Incomplete communication between care professionals during handover risks increasing the incidence of patient safety incidents. The number of patient safety incidents in Indonesia is still relatively high at 5,710 incidents, consisting of 5,364 undesirable events (KTD) and 346 Sentinel incidents. This research aims to improve nurses' ability to integrate effective communication when considering electronic medical records using the E-SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) method. Method: implementation of E-SBAR is carried out by socializing effective SBAR communication in electronic medical records, mentoring, assessing and evaluating E-SBAR effective communication skills during weigh-in at Hospital X in Jember. The pretest results before the E-SBAR socialization were carried out, the officer's score was 47% and after the socialization the score rose to 82.2%. So it can be concluded that there is an increase in knowledge after socializing the implementation of E-SBAR. The implementation of effective electronic SBAR communication is expected to optimize resources, reduce patient waiting times, and ensure patients receive comprehensive and well-coordinated care.
