Abstract

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art materials and artwork creation to communicate. Drawing and coloring can improve attention and orientation, reduce behavioral and psychological symptoms, and enhance social skills in the elderly with dementia. This community service activity aimed to implement group activities involving drawing and coloring to improve cognitive function among the elderly at PSTW Jember. The method used included observation and group activity therapy through coloring. The target of this activity was the elderly at UPT PSTW Jember. Of the 14 elderly who participated, 8 (57%) could color the pictures appropriately. The results of the group activity therapy through coloring showed an improvement in the ability to recall color choices in the picture sketches. It is expected that the elderly at UPT PSTW Jember will be able to continue applying coloring therapy as a cognitive function enhancement activity to help maintain their productivity.
