Abstract

Waste sorting is a step to raise public awareness before entering the waste management and process. KKN Kolaboratif Peduli Semeru Group 4 initiated a sanitation work program, namely reviving the waste bank which had stopped due to the Covid-19 virus causing the tourist area in Sumbermujur Village to be closed. The program to revive the waste bank was carried out in Umbulrejo, Sumbermujur Village, Lumajang Regency starting from January 5 to February 18, 2022, the target of this program is the entire Umbulrejo community. The goal is to increase public awareness about the importance of waste management, improve health standards, and improve the economy of waste. In the implementation of education for residents regarding waste banks, intensive coordination with the waste bank management must be carried out in every activity that will be carried out so that it runs optimally. The existence of this work program received a good response from local residents. Based on the activities that have been carried out by re-activating the waste bank in Umbulrejo, public interest has increased again than before. This can be proven by the existence of people who collect waste from household waste and deposit it in a waste bank.
